Bartholomew is Brandon-Evansville baseball MVP
The Brandon-Evansville baseball team named Nolan Bartholomew its team MVP at its season-ending awards banquet recently.
Bartholomew, a senior, tossed two no-hitters on the mound this season, including one in the Section 6A playoff opener against Eagle Valley. He was one of three Brandon-Evansville players who were named All-Pheasant Conference, along with fellow seniors Billie Juul and Tom Bosek. Craig Campbell, Brandon Christianson and Zach Carlson were honorable-mention all-conference selections.
Christianson took home a couple of team awards after being named the most improved player and the team's RBI champion. Carlson earned the Golden Spikes Award for the most steals with 18.
The Top Gun Award went to Bosek, who posted an ERA of 1.49. He also took home the Golden Glove Award for his defense. Campbell earned the Silver Slugger Award with a team-high batting average of .415 and Juul earned the Hardest Worker Award.
The Chargers finished the season 13-9 overall this spring. It was their third straight winning season as they became one of just two teams out of the 19-team Section 6A field to finish with at least 13 wins in each of the past three seasons. This year's Section 6A winner, New York Mills, is the other.
