The Brandon-Evansville baseball team wrapped up the regular season at 11-7 after a 2-1 win over Ottertail Central last Thursday night.

Neither team could put together much offense against either starting pitcher. The Chargers' Tom Bosek had a little bit more than Nick Trosdahl from OTC. Bosek went the distance, scattering five hits and two walks on his way to a seven-strikeout performance.

Brandon-Evansville got one each in the second and fourth innings.

"Overall, we played a good game," head coach Brandon Gruchow said. "I wish we could have managed to come out strong from the first pitch. This was a big confidence booster for the team going into subsection on Tuesday."

USA 24, WCA 3

The West Central Area baseball team ran into a hot Upsala-Swanville Area team and fell 24-3 on Tuesday night.

The wet conditions didn't dampen the USA bats as five different players collected at least two RBIs. Brock Cichon led the way with two hits, three runs scored and five RBIs. The Patriots' big inning came in the third when they put up 11 runs.

Cole LaValley led the WCA offense with two hits and three RBIs. Alex Anderson worked two innings, allowing 11 runs, before the Patriots got to Devin Nelson for 13 runs over the final three frames.

"We struggled offensively and defensively tonight," head coach Brandon Gruchow said. "It just wasn't our night, and it's hard to win games when you're not playing well. We are looking forward to playing later on this week as our pitchers should be ready to go."

The loss dropped the Knights to 5-10 overall.
