State Class A wrestling: West Central Area, Prairie Valley wrestlers compete

Three area wrestlers competed in the State Class A individual wrestling tournament at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul last weekend.

Sophomore Royal Crow of West Central Area/Ashby/Evansville lost his first match at 145 pounds, falling to Tanner Rohlik of Wabasso/Red Rock Central by a pin in 4:36.

He moved into the wrestlebacks, falling to Trevor Scott of Holdingford 8-4, ending his state tournament run.

Sophomore Hunter Fick of WCA/Ashby/Evansville dropped his first match at 195 pounds, falling to Colton Laymon of West Marshall 3-1.

In the wrestlebacks, Fick defeated Manuel Garcia of BOLD 3-2, then lost to Justin Viss of Chatfield 15-3 to end his tournament competition.

Senior Tyler Schlosser of Prairie Valley (Parkers Prairie) won his first match of the tournament at 220 pounds, defeating Nathan Elzen of Medford 13-4.

Schlosser then faced eventual state champion Lucas Damm of Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, falling 5-3.

In the wrestlebacks, Schlosser fell to Ryley Smude of Pierz by pin in 4:39 to finish his high school career.
