Card volleyball: Alexandria goes 2-2 at Eden Prairie tournament
The Alexandria volleyball team went 2-2 at the Eden Prairie Tournament this past weekend, picking up wins over Hill-Murray and Holy Family in three games each.
The Cardinals fell 0-2 to fourth-ranked Waconia in the opener and by the same score to North St. Paul in their third match of the tournament. They were able to bounce back from both those losses as they won 15-13 in the third set against Hill-Murray and edged Holy Family to even their record at 3-3 heading into the week.
"It was great to see the girls go into such a large tournament with the energy and determination to play hard and earn a win or two," head coach Becky Schlichting said.
Amanda Christianson led Alexandria at the net with a team-high 25 kills in the four matches. Jenni Wild added 19, Emily Kuennen 16 and Adrianne Wensman finished in double figures with 15.
Allie Noetzelman set them up all weekend with 50 assists. Nicole Canavati added 33 helpers, while Shanee' Herd had a team-leading 77 digs.
