Alexandria's Steve Herzog and his wife, Teresa, are new residents to Alexandria but not to the Resorters Golf Tournament.

He's been playing in the tournament for decades and has three other titles to his credit - 1984 Men's, 1992 Executive and 1993 Men's. When asked to recall highlights from the tournament, Herzog listed making new friends and playing against opponents who like playing golf.

When one of his matches went into extra holes this week, his opponent turned to him and said, "Win or lose, this has been a blast." Herzog said that's what the Resorters Tournament is all about.

He made sure he also had another trophy to take home with him after a 6-5 win over Plymouth's Jim Arnold on Saturday.

It was a strong front nine that led him to the runaway victory. Herzog won three of the first four holes with two pars and a birdie that put him 3-up. He added a par win at 7 to take a 4-hole lead into the turn.

Herzog only continued to flourish once they reached the back. He used another par win on 11 to move to 5-up and then put things away with a par win at 13.

Arnold opened the door for him by shooting 5-over on the day. Herzog was steady throughout, posting par after par. He finished with one birdie on his card and the rest pars to secure his fourth Resorters title.
