Lesnar title fight set for tomorrow

Alexandria's Brock Lesnar will put his heavyweight title on the line tomorrow night as the main card at the UFC 121 pay-per view event in Anaheim, California.

Lesnar will be back in the octagon less than four months after he took down Shane Carwin at UFC 116 to become the undisputed heavyweight title holder.

Cain Velasquez should offer Lesnar a solid opponent in tomorrow night's fight. The 6'1," 238-pounder has never lost a mixed martial arts event. He is 8-0 overall and 6-0 in his UFC career. Lesnar is 5-1 but is unbeaten since losing the first UFC fight of his career in 2008.

Velasquez, like Lesnar, has a wrestling background. He is a two-time All-American collegiate wrestler at Arizona State University and a junior college national champion at Iowa Central Community College.

Velasquez got his heavyweight title chance by beating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 110. He won that match by knockout just two minutes and 20 seconds into the fight. Seven of his matches have been decided by knockouts.

None of those have come against Lesnar, though. The former University of Minnesota national champion will be his toughest challenge to date.

Lesnar's toughness was on full display during his fight with Carwin at UFC 116, his first match since overcoming an intestinal disorder that almost ended his career. He had to overcome an onslaught of punches by Carwin after he took Lesnar to the mat in the opening round. He survived those early hits and beat Carwin by submission with an arm triangle chokehold in the second round.

Lesnar will again have a distinct size advantage on his opponent tomorrow night. At 265 pounds, that will be the case almost every time he steps in the octagon. Velasquez hopes his athleticism and endurance can help make up for that size difference in tomorrow night's title fight.
