The Brandon-Evansville Bluedogs' run through the West Division of the Resorters baseball league continued this past weekend as they picked up two more wins over division foes.

The Bluedogs traveled to Alexandria on Sunday in a position to wrap up the West Division with a win. That is exactly what they did as both teams scored early before Brandon-Evansville pulled away for a 7-4 win over the Senators.

The Bluedogs used two unearned runs in the top of the ninth to create some breathing room in what was a one-run game. Matt Kruize had a big day with two hits to lead the Brandon-Evansville offense. He reached base four times.

That came on the heels of another strong performance the night before. The Bluedogs welcomed Osakis to town and handed the Hawks a 10-4 loss on Saturday.

Mike Bruns tossed eight solid innings to pick up the win. The Bluedogs fell behind 2-0 in the top of the first inning. They answered right back with three of their own in the bottom of the inning. They then pulled away in the late innings to secure the win.

Brandon-Evansville improved to 10-1 on the season in division play with the two victories. Along with clinching the West, the Bluedogs also secured an automatic bid to the eight-team Region 16C tournament, which runs from August 6-15.

The Bluedogs have the weekend off from league competition but will take part in the fourth annual Nimrod Gnats Invite. The St. Paul Shamrocks, Roseau Royals, Royalton Riverdogs, Richmond Royals, Brainerd Bees and the Gnats join Brandon-Evansville to make up the eight-team tournament field.
