Card girls celebrate volleyball successes
The Cardinal volleyball team put an end to a memorable season by handing out its team awards at its fall banquet recently.
Sam Trumm was part of a dominant offensive attack for the Cardinals. She was named the team's MVP after an impressive season on both offense and defense. Trumm was one of four players named All-Central Lakes Conference. Angela Christianson, Jacque Brown and Katie Brown joined her on the team.
Keely Gross and Kaitlin Becker were named honorable mention All-CLC performers. Gross played with tremendous energy on the court and was rewarded for that by receiving the Hustle Award. She was also named all-state academic for her work in the classroom. Becker took home the Most Improved Award after adding to the Cardinals' offensive attack as a right-side hitter.
Jacque Brown was also a big part of that offensive attack. She was named the team's most valuable offensive player, while Chelsea Schroeder earned the team's Most Valuable Defensive Player Award. Teya Burgau and Allie Thul rounded out the team award winners by each taking home the Coach's Award.
The Cardinals had another strong season that culminated with a trip to the state tournament. They finished 12-0 in conference play and won the section title with a three-game sweep against Moorhead.
