Letter to the Editor: Boost security in schools

To the editor:

Do we care that little about our kids? Why on earth are we not hardening our

nation's public schools, as we have done with our other governmental

institutions? Why on earth do we not put metal detectors at each entry

point? Why in the world do we not budget for security teams?

Indeed, ignoring danger signs of mentally ill youth who turn on their peers is one

thing, and very irresponsible. It is quite another to completely ignore a

proven physical system of metal detectors and security and not put them into

place for our most vulnerable future citizens.
