LETTER: Minnesotans embrace winter
To the editor:
This is in response to the article in the Friday, January 6 Echo Press: "Absolute zero: Minnesota winters rated worst in U.S."
This assessment was made by two guys that write for a travel website. I'm not sure what parts of Minnesota they traveled in, but I don't believe they had a full Minnesota experience.
I think the crews that keep our roads plowed in the winter months deserve a lot of credit for maintaining drivable roadways; you hear more horror stories about people stranded on interstates for long periods of time in the eastern states, not to mention the southern states when they get a 2-inch snowfall.
Minnesotans don't just hibernate in the winter; we embrace the cold and snow. Only a full blown white-out blizzard interrupts business as usual. Minnesota might not be for everyone, but for me it is the number 1 best state in the U.S.
