Barbara A. Wilson

Barbara Anne (Broughton) Wilson was born August 9, 1948, to William and Marjorie Broughton in Windsor Ontario Canada. Barbara attended school at the Honorable J.C. Patterson Collegiate Institute in Windsor.

On October 18, 1969, Barbara married Bradley Wilson in Lake City, Minnesota. Barbara and Brad lived in Albert Lea, MN and Sauk Centre, MN before purchasing Sunny Hollow Resort on Lake Latoka. They were able to enjoy the lake life for over 40 years while raising their family.

Barbara worked for Douglas County Public Health as a Home Health Aide; performing home care, family visiting, and hospice from 1985-2010. In June 2013, Barb returned to the work she loved so much; caring for others. She was employed by Horizon Public Health until her retirement in November 2017. Barb was known for her gentle care and compassion for everyone she encountered.

Barbara passed away peacefully at the age of 70 on Saturday, September 8, 2018, surrounded by her family at Knute Nelson Memorial Home in Alexandria MN. She is survived by her husband, Brad Wilson; children, Kimberly (Joel) Bloom, Alexandria and Brad Wilson, Eagan; and 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew and Cathryn Bloom. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, William and Marjorie Broughton; and her brother, Bill Broughton.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Ben Jacobson officiating. Inurnment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Alexandria.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of Douglas County.
