Keith L. Melville
Keith Louis Melville was born on June 9, 1951, in Wadena, Minnesota to Ralph and Virginia (Pikal) Melville. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Alexandria in 1969. Keith attend Moorhead State University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Social Studies.
On August 26, 1972, Keith was united in marriage to Bonnie Anderson at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple lived in Luverne, MN and Centerville, SD for a time while Keith started his teaching career. In 1979, the couple moved to Brandon, MN where he started teaching K-12 at Brandon-Evansville School as an Art Teacher. Keith taught for 29 years in Brandon-Evansville, retiring in 2008. After retiring he started working for the city of Brandon doing maintenance. In October, Keith was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After surgery and different stays at nursing homes; they were able to bring Keith home under the wonderful care of Hospice of Douglas County.
Keith was always active in his community and church. He offered his artistic abilities to school plays, community signs, or anything asked of him. Keith had a great sense of humor and loved playing tricks on people. Keith loved going to the grandchildren's games and was very active in sports. He coached Taylor and the senior boys in youth basketball, and always referred to them as HIS boys. He was so proud of all of them and always had to go watch his boys play ball. Keith enjoyed going to their concerts and going to Addi's track and field events for elementary school. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather, teacher, and friend. Most of all he loved his children, grandchildren and his wife and always told Bonnie he loved her to Infinity and Waaaay Beyond.
Keith died on June 5, 2018, at his home in Brandon surrounded by his family at the age of 66. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Brandon; daughters, Heather (Tim) Bitzan of Brandon and Amber (Chris) Becker of Alexandria; three grandsons, Taylor, Tanner and Tyler Bitzan; and one granddaughter, Addisyn Becker; and brother, Craig (special friend, Mary Steffes) Melville of Sartell; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Monday, June 11, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church in Brandon with Reverend Rob Nelson officiating. Inurnment was held at Brandon Cemetery in Brandon.
