Robert "Bob" G. Wallgren

Robert "Bob" Gerald Wallgren was born on November 19, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota to Carl and Rosemarie (Sloan) Wallgren. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1968. Bob attended Technical College in Moorhead and earned a diploma in Diesel Mechanics. While living in Moorhead he worked at Fairmont Foods. In 1985, Bob moved to Carlos, Minnesota and opened The Hayloft Restaurant and also was a part-time truck driver for Continental Bridge in Carlos.

Bob was united in marriage to Janet Wielenberg on June 24, 1988, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Amanda. The family lived in Carlos, and Bob continued to run the Hayloft until this past year due to his health.

Bob was a people person and loved to visit, play cards, and watch sports. Most of all Bob loved to get to the golf course as much as possible.

Bob died on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at Grand Arbor at the age of 68. He is survived by his wife, Janet of Alexandria; daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Minnerath of Alexandria; grandchildren, Ellie, Kaylen, and Wyatt; brothers, Kenneth (Sheryl) Wallgren of Alice, TX, Douglas (Michaelle) Wallgren of Osseo, MN, Roger (Theresa) Wallgren of Moorhead, MN, and Daniel (Sheila) Wallgren of New Braunfels, TX; sisters, Elaine (John) Ruscheinsky of Spokanne, WA and Christine Sands of Callaway, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Rosemarie; brother, James Wallgren; brother-in-law, Ryan Sands; and grandson, Hayden Minnerath.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, January, 3, 2018, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alexandria with Reverend Steve Binsfeld. Interment was at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Alexandria.
