Freng, Helen Laura (Hanson)

Freng, Helen Laura (Hanson), 92, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2017, surrounded by her four loving children. Born March 4, 1925, on a dairy farm in Bloomer, Wisconsin, Helen graduated from Bloomer High School in 1942 and St. Olaf College in 1946. She began her teaching career in Brooten, MN, where she met her future husband, Murrae. They were married February 4, 1950. The Frengs called Brooten, Alexandria, Minneapolis, Hopkins, Anoka, Lake Ida, and Plymouth home during their 64-year marriage. Helen was strong, independent, gracious, and beautiful. Her lefse was second to none. Preceded in death by her husband Murrae, parents Harry and Clara Hanson, and sister Doris. Missing her already are brother H. Robert (Bob) Hanson (Kay), daughters Mary (Ron), Kristi (Jerry), Deanna, son Alan (Michele), grandchildren Amanda (Jeremy), Megan (Jason), Clay (Amber), David (Michaela), Sam, Paul, Autumn, and great-grandchildren, Gage, Skylar, Rheya, Dessa, and Lincoln. A celebration of her life will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 22 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3695 Co. Rd. 101 N, Plymouth, (763)478-9406. Visitation 1 hour prior to service. Memorials preferred to Shalom Lutheran Church(Alexandria)Youth Fund, Peace Lutheran Church Youth Fund or Presbyterian Homes.
