The service for the celebration of Mabel Hernwall Rachuy's life was held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, with Pastors David Hinz and Goeffrey Gronewold presiding.

Mabel was born on the Hubble farm near Oriska, ND, to Vernon and Minnie (Detmer) Krause on October 8, 1919. She attended grade school in Oriska, and when Mabel was 17 the family moved to Minnesota where she graduated from Eagle Bend High School with the class of 1938. She graduated from St. Cloud State with a Bachelor of Science degree and taught for 28 years in Upsala, Red Oak, Eagle Bend and Bertha-Hewitt Schools.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Oriska, ND. Most recently, she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria, MN

Mabel married Oscar Hernwall on June 10, 1944 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Bend, MN. They resided at the family farm until Oscar died in December 1988. Mabel moved to Alexandria and married Louis Rachuy on May 5, 1990 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria. They lived in Alexandria and enjoyed winters in Texas. Louis died in September of 2002. Mabel continued to live in her home until April of 2016, and then moved to Diamond Willow Care Center for assisted living. Mabel joined our Lord on June 14, 2017. She was 97 years of age.

Mabel leaves behind her children: Marvin (Patricia) Hernwall and Maureen (Steven) Bumgarner; grandchildren: Sean (Monica) Bumgarner, Maria (Robb Green) Bumgarner and Aaron (Kelly) Bumgarner; great-grandchildren: Grace, Garrett, Carolina, Cale, Cora, Carson and Liesel Bumgarner; Louis Rachuy's family: Dale (Dorothy) Rachuy, Lonna Olson, June Fontaine, Dene Rachuy, and John (Cindy) Rachuy; Rachuy grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers: Harold Krause and Edwin Krause; sister-in-law Avis High; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Hernwall; husband Louis Rachuy; sister Elvera and husband Roy Pratt; brother Eugene and wife Margie Krause; sisters-in-law Pearl Krause and Genelle Krause; brother-in-law David High; and great-grandson Evan Bumgarner.

Honorary pallbearers were Maria Bumgarner, Lisa Stevenson Allen, Tammy Cebulla, Anne Rachuy, Nina Fontaine, Lisa Fontaine, Reina Mathis, Lani Kneiblher, Elizabeth Fontaine, Sheri Ferdinandt and Marie Stevenson.

Pallbearers were Sean Bumgarner, Aaron Bumgarner, Michael Rachuy, Norston Fontaine, Montgomery Fontaine, John Rachuy II, and Craig Stevenson.

Burial was next to her husband, Oscar Hernwall, at the Swedish Emmanuel Episcopal Cemetery, Eagle Bend, MN.
