Boys basketball: Norby's big day carries Ashby to third win
The Ashby boys basketball team got its third win of the season on Tuesday night as the Arrows coasted past Frazee (0-13) in a 72-46 game.
Ashby (3-10) led 34-24 at the half and hit the gas over the final 18 minutes to snap a three-game losing streak.
"It was great to get a win at home during Snow Week," Ashby head coach Jeremy Knick said. "We did a lot of things well tonight. Our team defense was solid all night, getting stops at key points in the game. We did a good job crashing the boards on both ends of the floor."
Junior guard Christian Koefod was back on the court after missing some games with an injury. He had five points and four rebounds in his return.
"It was good to have Christian Koefod back in the rotation tonight," Knick said. "He just brings a lot of positive energy. (Eighth grade forward) Jaden Norby had a big game collecting 13 rebounds and scoring 25 points. He also dished out three assists. As a team we had 14 assists. It was by far one of the best team efforts we have had all season."
Sophomore guard Christian Norby added 16 points for the Arrows, while fellow sophomore guard Scott Johnson added 11 points, and senior Rolland Fossell had nine points. Chris Hughes led Frazee with 16 points, while Cole Fleisher had 10.
