YMCA cancels Bunny Run because of threatening weather

To ensure the safety of participants, the Alexandria YMCA Bunny Run on Saturday, March 31, has been cancelled due to predicted, uncontrollable winter weather conditions.

Participants will be refunded in full, according to the YMCA.

Douglas County is under a winter storm warning from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Periods of heavy snow and blowing snow are possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy snow will move into northwest Minnesota this evening and track eastward across central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin overnight tonight.

The warning has been issued from Douglas to Chisago counties in Minnesota, and Polk to Chippewa counties in Wisconsin where snow accumulations of 4 to 7 inches of snow are expected.

Increasing winds through the night are also expected to result in areas of blowing snow. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for a row of counties south of the warning for lighter snow accumulations around 3 to 5 inches.
