Roadway to begin Monday on McKay

Construction is set to begin on County Road 46 (McKay Ave.) this Monday, Aug. 13.

The construction will take place between County Road 82 and Highway 29, past Discovery Middle School, according to a news release from Douglas County Public Works Director Dave Robley.

He said the contractor will be milling the existing surface on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 13-14, with repaving of the road set to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

Weather permitting, Robley said the work should be completed by the end of the week.

He also said motorists should be prepared for major delays. The use of alternate routes is strongly encouraged to avoid the work zones. Robley said Highway 29, Nokomis Street and Birch Avenue are all good alternate roads for travelers to use.

“The public’s patience during this project is appreciated,” said Robley. “The new, smoother surface will be a significant improvement.”
