Girls' golf: Osakis team wins Section 5A title, heads for state

Jackie Bowman shot a career best round of 82 and Kelsey Ross fired an 80 to secure a state-tournament berth for the Osakis girls' golf team.

The Silverstreaks won the Section 5A tournament by 39 strokes over MACCRAY with a season best team score of 359. West Central Area was fourth with a team score of 425.

Ross' score was good for medalist honors, while Bowman finished second to help Osakis cruise to the win. Peyton Garcia and Annalise Savageau shot 98 and 99, respectively, to round out the scoring for the Silverstreaks.

Paul Hartmann came short of a state tournament bid for the Osakis boys. He shot a 99 in the individual tournament. Hartmann led the Silverstreaks in scoring average this season as a freshman.

The Osakis girls had more than a week to prepare for the state meet. The two-day tournament is next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
