Snowmobiler injured near Ashby
A family snowmobiling outing near Ashby Saturday took an unexpected turn.
Amber Michelle Scholl, 21, of Mankato was snowmobiling with her father and a sister on the Central Lakes Trail about a mile and a half east of Ashby.
At about 5:40 p.m., Scholl didn't see that the two snowmobiles ahead of her had stopped because of mechanical problems, according to the Grant County Sheriff's Office.
At the last moment, she put her sled into a slide and slid into one of the snowmobiles. Scholl's right leg got caught between her snowmobile and her sister's.
Scholl broke her leg and was transported by Ashby Ambulance to the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria, according to the sheriff's office.
The Grant County Sheriff's Office is investigating the crash and reported that no alcohol was involved.
