Elbow Lake man gets 12 years for 2009 teen abduction, sexual assault
FERGUS FALLS, Minn. - An Elbow Lake man was sentenced in Otter Tail County District Court on Monday to 12 years in prison in connection with the abduction of a 17-year-old girl in March 2009.
David Randy Sabby, 47, pleaded guilty in January to a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to documents filed in Otter Tail County District Court, Sabby took a girl at gunpoint from the Westridge Mall in Fergus Falls and drove her to a vacant cabin on Swan Lake, where he sexually assaulted her.
The sentence Sabby received Monday will be served consecutively with an approximately 3 1/2-year sentence he received in Grant County on a criminal sexual conduct charge.
Sabby will now be transported to the state of Georgia for sentencing in a case there that involves sexual charges and then returned to Minnesota to serve out all three sentences, said Michelle Eldien, an assistant Otter Tail County attorney.
The sentence Sabby is expected to receive in Georgia will be served concurrently with the Minnesota sentences, Eldien said.
