Douglas County gets insurance dividend
The Douglas County Board received notice at its Aug. 21 budget meeting that the Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust will issue a $146,552 dividend back to the county.
Stephanie Hadler from the coordinator's department acts as Douglas County's risk manager and is the liaison with MCIT. Department leadership and staff work with her and other MCIT staff to identify and prevent claims.
The 2018 MCIT insurance dividend is representative of the benefits of pooling with other counties and Douglas County's continued participation in solutions that work well and save money for the taxpayers, according to the MCIT.
The Douglas County Board thanked the leadership and staff who carry out loss control methodology and risk-management practices each day and for taking proactive steps to prevent claims from occurring.
MCIT is a joint powers entity made up of Minnesota counties and associated public entities that pool resources to provide property, casualty and workers' compensation coverage to members.
