Marty, candidate for governor, to be at fair
State Senator John Marty, a DFL candidate for governor, will visit the DFL booth at the Douglas County Fair this Friday, August 21, from 1 to 3:30 p.m.
Following his stop at the Douglas County Fair, Senator Marty will be heading to the Pope County DFL picnic and fundraiser in Glenwood. He will be there from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Marty chairs the Senate Health, Housing and Family Security Committee. He is author of the Minnesota Health Plan, a single-payer plan which he said would guarantee affordable health care for all Minnesotans for all medical needs, including dental care, prescription drugs, chemical dependency treatment and mental health care.
Marty said he is the only candidate/campaign to refuse all special interest money, including PAC money.
He first became known statewide for his work in ethics and campaign finance reform. In 1993, he authored legislation to reduce the impact of special interest money on the political process.
Marty was also the author of legislation that prohibited lobbyists and interest groups from giving gifts to public officials.
