Update: All escape house fire in Brandon
Two people were awoken by a person who returned home to discover a fire at a Brandon house Friday morning, and all escaped the fire.
The fire was reported at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 31, as an attached garage fire at 9981 Chippewa Heights NW, Brandon.
The son of homeowner Eric Wood discovered the fire and was forced to break a window to gain access to the house. The son woke his father and sister and got them out of the house, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
They were all treated and released on the scene by North Ambulance.
The Brandon Fire Department responded to the call, and immediately requested mutual aid from the Garfield and Millerville fire departments.
The garage is a total loss and the house received extensive smoke and water damage, the sheriff’s office said.
The state fire marshal was called and the fire is under investigation. The sheriff’s office said the cause of the fire is unknown.
