Register for Senior College winter 2017 program

Registration for the winter 2017 Senior College is now open. The program is entitled "Food! Food! Food! There's a Lot to Digest." It will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 10-26, from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. at Alexandria Technical and Community College Office and Technology Building, Room 743.

Every day seems to present new and complicated challenges for decisions about food, from genetically modified foods to organics, new food labels, and disclosures about types of sugars in what we buy, to food safety and food security for the future.

This program will provide a macro/micro look at food to better understand the science behind nutrition, how diet has evolved, how bodies digest and adjust, and what new developments and technologies offer.

Presenter Maryln Lehmkuhl is a faculty member in the liberal arts program at ATCC where she teaches psychology and nutrition. She is a registered dietitian nutritionist with a Bachelor of Science in food and nutrition and a Master of Science in psychology and sociology. In addition to teaching, Lehmkuhl is a consultant for corporate wellness.

Winter season requires a minimum of 30 people registered by Monday, Jan. 2. If needed, a cancellation notice will be posted on the Senior College web page.

The cost is $50 per person for the season. Checks should be made payable and sent to ATCC at Alexandria Technical and Community College Senior College, 1601 Jefferson Street, Alexandria, MN 56308.
