March 19

A resident who drives to work from Evansville to Alexandria three days a week reported that a female driver tailgates him and other cars and passes them at a high rate of speed between 7:50 and 8:20 a.m.

A Millerville resident reported that someone stole his mail and his Social Security number.

Tools were stolen from a Miltona resident’s property near Miltona Avenue.

A juvenile driver was pulled over on County Road 82 near Nelson and cited for possessing a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

March 20

A driver was traveling near Hope Road SE, Osakis at about 3:30 p.m. when he smelled antifreeze. He pulled over to check it out and saw that the vehicle was smoking from under the hood. It caught fire seconds later. Osakis firefighters responded and extinguished it.

From 11:14 to 11:31 p.m., deputies stopped and warned five drivers for having too dark of a tint on their vehicle windows.

March 21

A Stihl chainsaw was found in the road on Park Irene Drive NE, Miltona.

Forada firefighters responded to a grain dryer fire at 11544 County Road 17, SE, Alexandria at 11:09 p.m. The Alexandria Fire Department also responded.

A worker fell about 16 feet through a roof at a work site near Jefferson Street and 2nd Avenue East at 11:49 a.m.

A semi jack-knifed on State Highway 27 West near Iona Way, blocking both lanes of traffic. There were no injuries.

March 24

A resident on East Lake Geneva Road NE, Alexandria reported damage to her detached garage. Someone struck it with an unknown object, causing $1,000 in damage.

POLICE March 19

At 5:43 a.m., a resident on Cedar Street said she thought a prowler may be in her house. Her dog was barking and behaving strangely. As a precaution, she locked herself, three children and the dog in a bedroom. Officers and a deputy searched the residence and everything appeared to be OK.

An officer responded to a report of a young boy, about 8-years-old, who was driving an electric scooter on Hawthorne Street. The officer told the boy to walk the scooter home and to stay off the road.

March 20

A motorcycle was stolen from a resident on Oak Street sometime after December 1, 2013.

A wallet containing bank cards was stolen at Walmart.

A driver of an older Chevrolet Cavalier four-door with loud exhaust pipes hit a McDonald’s North employee in the drive-through and took off. The employee wasn’t seriously injured.

Dispatch received a report of a man getting out of a silver car and slashing tires on another vehicle parked near Raaper’s Eatery and Ale.

March 21

Stereo speakers were stolen from a garage on North Quincy Street.

March 22

A maintenance worker found a marijuana pipe on a ledge in front of the Law Enforcement Center. An officer placed it into evidence for destruction.

A cashier at Menards came across a counterfeit $50 bill.

A tool box was stolen out of the back of a truck at Menards.

A resident on Highway 29 North reported the theft of tires from a jeep and a boat trailer within the last week.

A shoplifting incident was reported at Premiere Video. Four games were stolen.

March 24

Employee theft was reported at Ace Hardware.

An orange Mongoose bicycle was found on North McKay Avenue.

Five hit-and-run accidents were reported between 2:42 and 4:11 p.m. They happened at Viking Towers, Pete’s County Market, Viking Plaza, Jefferson High School and Super America.

An iPod was stolen at the Alexandria Area YMCA.
