Murder charges reinstated in 2013 stabbing



February 26

Dispatch received a report of a car driving on the wrong side of the road on County Road 82 East near Freedom Road. The driver eventually pulled into the correct lane but then crossed over the center line and stopped in the middle of the road to turn into Nelson. The driver was cited for driving with a revoked license, possessing a small amount of marijuana and having no proof of insurance.

A resident on Gran Street in Evansville reported that he sold items on Craigslist and was defrauded by someone.

A woman on Park Street reported that she came home and found a man in her house that she only knew by a nickname and she wanted him out. The man was cited for trespassing and released.

A front license plate was stolen from a 1997 Chevrolet van.

A suspect was cited for shoplifting at Kmart.

February 28

The manager of Days Inn reported finding drug paraphernalia in a room.

A male failed random testing and was transported to jail for violating his probation.

Officers responded to two reports of a “suspicious person” – a man with a long white beard wearing an Army jacket and carrying two duffel bags on the frontage road of Highway 29 South. He was a homeless man trying to get to Wisconsin.

March 1

Dispatch received a complaint of snowmobiles doing 60 to 70 miles per hour behind a house on Sumac Drive.

A vehicle ran over a 7-year-old boy’s leg at McDonald’s South. He suffered some bruising but nothing was broken.

March 2

A burglary was reported at a residence on 7th Avenue East. The house was in disarray and $2,500 was missing. A jewelry box was opened but nothing was taken from it. There were no signs of forced entry. A neighbor reported seeing a white car in the driveway for about 20 minutes.

A possible exposure incident was reported at Lakes Area Recreation. A suspect was questioned and he said it was accidental. A complainant didn’t want to pursue charges. The incident is still being investigated.
