A two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of County Road 73 and East Lake Geneva Road shortly before 7 p.m. One of the drivers, Alexis West of Alexandria, was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. The other driver, Steven Bumgarner of Alexandria, wasn’t injured.

January 30

Deputies assisted with a rollover on Interstate 94 near mile post 98 involving a Wilken County Sheriff’s Office deputy. They assisted in transporting the deputy and his prisoner.

A resident reported that his father is being scammed by a woman who lives in Alexandria. Deputies are investigating.

An iPhone was stolen from a gym bag that was placed in the corner of a building at Andes Tower Hills. Value: $200.

A Go-Pro video camera was stolen from Andes Tower Hills.

January 31

Deputies are investigating bad checks reported at Douglas County Repair in Brandon.

A resident’s propane tank was reportedly leaking on Sanstead Street in Garfield. The propane company was notified. A drain valve on the top of the tank was removed and a pressure release valve under the lid was open. Removing propane from the tank requires a special tool. The valve was fixed.

Someone attempted to use a firearm as collateral at a pawn shop in Nelson without the owner’s permission.

February 1

A resident on Temple Street reported that someone pushed open the back door of her garage and a basement door was also open. A deputy checked inside the house and nothing appeared to be out of place.

A small truck slid into a yard in the Erickson Heritage area at about 10:20 p.m. After responding, deputies arrested the driver for drunk driving, possession of marijuana and destroying evidence. A passenger was cited for possessing drug paraphernalia.

February 2

A fight was reported shortly before 2 a.m. between a customer and a taxi driver over the cost of a fare from Angelina’s to the Latoka Heights area. The rider eventually paid but the taxi driver said the suspect damaged a door.

A resident on 2nd Street South in Evansville reported that the hydrant in front of her house was running and water was flowing onto the road.

Deputies investigated a firecracker complaint on South Darling Drive.

POLICE January 29

A driver left the roadway near the intersection of County Road 46 and Hazel Hill Road and struck a mailbox. The driver was cited for driving after suspension.

A wallet was found in the snow near 2nd Avenue East and Maple Street.

Officers responded to a gas leak on Victor Street.

January 30

A resident reported losing a brown leather wallet somewhere in town the previous night.

Officers are investigating a case of bad checks that were written out to Pete’s County Market in the amount of $778.54 and another case with the amount totaling $2,648.10.

A gas leak from an oven was reported at Godfather’s Pizza at 8:35 p.m. The building was evacuated.

Officers received a report of people smoking marijuana in the basement of a residence on Irving Street. An officer determined that they were burning some type of legal sage for religious purposes.

Someone damaged the fixtures in the restroom at Perkins Family Restaurant. The damage has occurred several times in the last month.

A shoplifter was arrested at Walmart and cited for theft.

January 31

A two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of 50th Avenue and Sanibel Drive at 11:16 a.m. One of the drivers, Molly Staton of Clontarf, was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. The other driver, Jodi Lee of Alexandria, wasn’t hurt.

February 2

A small, black leather purse was found in a Walmart shopping cart. It was taken to customer service.
