Cardoza charged in Osakis burglary, theft cases

Christopher Cardoza, 21, of Osakis is in Douglas County Jail after his alleged involvement in thefts and burglary in Osakis.

According to the Osakis Police Department, a burglary was reported on August 24 at a home on 2nd Avenue West. The homeowner reportedly confronted a man in her kitchen, pulled off his mask and he ran from the house. She reported fishing poles and a gas can had been stolen from her garage.

Then, during the early morning of August 29, residents on West Main Street in Osakis reported items had been stolen from their vehicle.

After witnesses followed and identified Cardoza at the Lakeland Motel in Osakis on August 29, he was arrested. All stolen property was recovered and returned to the victims.

Cardoza is charged with first-degree burglary, theft, and tampering with a motor vehicle.

He's due in court September 17 for his next hearing.
