Authorities investigate thefts at state Capitol

Security at the state Capitol is investigating a reported theft of approximately $15 from a candy fundraiser envelope, blood pressure medication, and keys to offices on the second floor of the State Office Building in St. Paul.

Capitol Security was notified on August 27 by a research consultant that his second floor office was accessed and the items were missing. Capitol Security officers checked offices that corresponded to the missing keys; no additional items were reported missing. Capitol Security advised that the locks be re-keyed. This is an active and ongoing investigation.

State Representative Mary Franson, R-Alexandria, told the Echo Press last Wednesday that she was informed that her office was entered but she isn't sure if anything was missing yet because she won't be returning to her office for a few more days.
