A car exiting Interstate 94 south of Garfield was struck by another vehicle and caught fire Thursday afternoon.

Glenn Frisell, 40, of Alexandria suffered non-life threatening injuries from the crash and was taken to Alomere Hospital, according to an accident report from the Minnesota State Patrol. He was treated and released.

The report states: Renee Retzlaff, 57, of New Ulm was driving a 2017 Ford Escape when it left I-94 and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection with County Road 40 at the end of the ramp. As the car went through the intersection, it was hit by a 2004 Ford Ranger driven by Frisell that was headed southbound on County Road 40.

The Escape caught fire after the crash.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene.
