Kid's Ice Fishing Clinic at Glendalough State Park

Glendalough State Park will host a Kid's Ice Fishing Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 2. The clinic was scheduled for Jan. 19, but postponed due to extreme cold temperatures.

Children will learn about fish in the winter and winter safety through hands-on activities. Participants will make jiggle sticks to use and take home. Bait will be provided. People are encouraged to dress warmly and wear appropriate foot gear for standing on the ice while waiting to catch "the big one."

This program, from 2-5 p.m., is best suited for youth ages 8-12 years in the company of an adult. Sign-up is required and limited to 20 participants.

Candlelight ski

The Candlelight Ski scheduled for Jan. 19 has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 15.

Ski by moonlight and candlelight, sip on hot cider by the fire in the trail center or visit the historic lodge. Bring marshmallows to roast or a snack to share at this family friendly event. Approximately 1 1/2 miles of trail will be lighted for the event, which will start at 6:30 p.m. Ski rentals are available. A Minnesota Ski Pass is required and will be available for purchase.

Glendalough State Park's cross-country ski trails are groomed and in excellent condition. There are more than seven miles of trail groomed for classic cross-country skiing and a three-mile skate-ski trail that also is suitable for snowshoeing and hiking. Trail difficulty ranges from beginner to intermediate. On weekends the trail center is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Rental skis and snowshoes are available at the park when the office is open. A state park vehicle permit is required to enter the park.

Henning Rod & Gun Club Fishing Derby Feb. 2

The Henning Rod & Gun Club will be hosting their 28th Annual Ice Fishing Derby on Saturday, February 2. The derby takes place from 12-3 p.m. at the east end of Middle Leaf Lake.

The Rod & Gun Club will be raffling off three high quality guns or cash prizes. Tickets are only $2 and can be purchased at many local businesses or from Club members. You need not be present to win.

Last year over 100 people braved the 20 below temps and caught more fish than usual, so come out enjoy the day and give to a good cause.

Otter Trail Riders snowmobile Radar Run Feb. 9

The Otter Trail Riders and the Ottertail Business Association are hosting their annual Snowmobile Radar Run on Feb. 9 on the north side of Otter Tail Lake. The Radar Run was originally scheduled for Jan. 19, but was postponed due to extreme cole temperatures.

Registration runs from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. with runs starting at 10 a.m. Cost to enter the Radar Run is $10 for three runs. Additional runs are$1 each. Photo I.D. is required for all riders, and participants under 17 need a parent signature to participate.

There will be over 50 classifications with trophies presented a The Otter Supper Club at 4:30 p.m. Riders must be present to receive trophies.

The Radar Run will be off the Riviera Access on Cty. Rd. 1, west of the Hwy. 78 and Cty. Rd. 1 intersection. For more information, call Terry at 218-367-3092.
