I-94 lane closures between Evansville, Garfield begin June 26
Motorists on Interstate 94 between Evansville and Garfield will encounter intermittent lane closures starting Monday, June 26, for a resurfacing and bridge project.
Crews will begin constructing temporary crossovers near the Highway 79 (Evansville/Elbow Lake) interchange, the County Road 7 (Brandon) interchange and the Highway 114 (Garfield) interchange, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The crossover work is expected to last about three weeks. During that time, crews will reduce I-94 to a single lane of traffic in each direction where they are working.
The overall project includes resurfacing both directions of I-94 between Highway 79 and Highway 114 and replacing the bridge decks at Highway 79 and Highway 114.
The concrete resurfacing and bridge work is expected to begin in mid-July. The eastbound portion will be completed in 2017, and the westbound lanes will be completed in 2018.
Michels Corporation of Brownsville, Wis., is the primary contractor for the $23 million dollar project.
