Minnesota Senate District 8 Republicans met in Parkers Prairie on Saturday, April 16 to choose their candidates for the upcoming election in November.

Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, and Reps. Mary Franson, R-Alexandria and Bud Nornes, R-Fergus Falls, were all endorsed unanimously.

Ingebrigtsen is seeking his fourth term to the Minnesota Senate.

“I was honored to be unanimously endorsed by Senate District 8 Republicans,” said Ingebrigtsen. “Bringing common sense, conservative values to St. Paul is my number one priority. The current DFL Majority in the Senate demonstrates how reckless the DFL is with Minnesotans’ pocketbooks.”

Franson is a third-term legislator in House District 8B, which includes the city of Alexandria and the northeastern corner of Douglas County as well as eastern Otter Tail County.

During the campaign, Franson said she plans to run on her record of being an advocate for the unborn, a defender of Second Amendment rights and a voice for the state’s most vulnerable citizens.

Franson is currently the chair of the House Select Committee on Affordable Child Care and the vice chair of the House Agriculture Policy Committee.

“It has been a joy to help lead efforts on child care and agriculture issues in the Legislature,” said Franson. “I’m eager to build upon our work to help improve the lives of hardworking families and farmers in our community and across our state.”
