Fire destroys house near Evansville

Fire destroyed a house in Evansville early this morning.

At about 1:30 a.m., the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a house fire at 21413 Horseshoe Road NW, the home of Mike and Mary Stramer, north of Evansville.

When Evansville firefighters arrived on scene, they found the house engulfed in flames.

Two males inside the residence managed to escape by jumping from a second story window, according to the sheriff's office. They were both transferred to the hospital by Ashby Ambulance.

Fire departments in Ashby and Brandon also responded to the blaze.

The house was a total loss.
