Cardoza pleads guilty to burglary

Christopher Cardoza, 21, of Osakis, pleaded guilty to charges related to an August 29 burglary.

Cardoza was originally charged with first-degree burglary, theft, and tampering with a motor vehicle after his alleged involvement in thefts and burglary in Osakis in late August.

On September 17, he pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary.

A few hours after a theft report was filed with local police on August 29, a group of citizens watched the suspect, later identified as Cardoza, walk into a room at the Lakeland Motel in Osakis.

Standing outside the motel, witnesses recognized stolen property in a car parked nearby and called law enforcement. The burglary victim identified Cardoza as the man who was in her house.

Cardoza was arrested and all stolen property was recovered and returned to the victims.

He’s due in court November 19 for sentencing.
