Resorters Golf Tournament: Junior 10-12, Friday

Here's an update of the Junior 10-12 Division Championship in the Resorters Golf Tournament being played at the Alexandria Golf Course after play concluded Friday.

Nathaniel Adams has made it look easy so far. The defending champion of the Junior 10-12 Division has won every single hole he has played in the first two rounds of match play this week.

Adams won 5-4 in his semifinal match Friday, and Saturday he is playing for a chance to earn his second championship in a row.

The other semifinal match in the Junior 10-12 Division Friday was not as decisive. It took Gabe McKeown three playoff holes to earn himself a shot at the division championship.

It will not be easy as he faces Adams in the title match Saturday. The group will begin play at 8:20 a.m. on the first tee.

Adams, a resident of Maple Grove, cruised to an easy 5-4 victory over Nate Martin of St. Cloud.

It only took five holes for Adams to put himself in the title match of the Junior 10-12 Division. Adams carded pars on Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 14, and also collected a birdie on No. 13.

Martin hung in tough, shooting bogeys on Nos. 10, 11, 12 and 14, and a par on No. 13. But Adams had a superb round, shooting 1-under through five holes on the back-nine when the match ended.

FREEMAN, 12 holes

McKeown, a Lenexa, Kansas native, had to play three extra holes to get himself a win over Will Freeman of St. Cloud.

Birdies on Nos. 2 and 5 helped McKeown gain a 2-up lead with two holes left to play. But that is when Freeman stormed back with wins on Nos. 17 and 18 after McKeown bogeyed 17 and conceded 18.

But McKeown was able to rebound during the playoff holes. After the golfers tied the first two holes, McKeown won the match on No. 12.
