Westrom serves as guest professor
Minnesota state senator Torrey Westrom (R-District 12) spoke to students at Concordia University in St. Paul on March 19 as part of its Professor for the Day program, which honors elected state officials during each month of the Minnesota legislative sessions.
The program recognizes officials who show outstanding public service, personal dedication to students and higher education, and innovative measures to improve Minnesota and the Midwest.
Westrom, who served as a guest professor in Professor Dr. David Woodard's American Government class, encouraged students to get involved in the political process, citing examples from his own politics.
Students were given the opportunity to ask Westrom questions throughout the duration of his talk.
Prior to his presentation, Westrom met with Concordia Student Association President Kyle Sorkness and Student Association Vice President of Public Affairs Nicole Zastrow.
Concordia University President Tom Ries presented Westrom with a plaque at the conclusion of his class presentation commemorating the visit.
Other state elected leaders participating in Concordia's Professor of the Day program are House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt (R-District 31A), House Majority Leader Erin Murphy (D-District 64A) and Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton.
