Winter storm causing crashes in Douglas County
Today's mix of rain and sleet is causing slippery road conditions and limited visibility in the Douglas County area.
There have been several reports of crashes, and vehicles sliding into the ditch. Two semis, for example, collided on Interstate 94 about five miles east of Alexandria this morning. No serious injuries have been reported.
Douglas County remains under a winter storm warning until 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday.
The forecast for this afternoon calls for occasional drizzle, possibly mixed with snow, and blustery winds out of the northeast, reaching gusts as high as 25 miles per hour.
A total daytime snow accumulation of three to seven inches is possible.
More snow is likely tonight, mainly before 4 a.m., bringing another inch or two of snow.
