Otto Bremer foundation gives $52,000 to Caring Hands
The Otto Bremer Foundation, majority owner of Bremer Bank, awarded $52,332 to West Central Dental Resources, Inc. dba Caring Hands Dental Clinic, based in Alexandria. The funds will be used to provide equipment for this dental clinic that serves low income children and adults.
"The Otto Bremer Foundation and Bremer Bank are committed to building healthy communities in Douglas County," said David Kjos, president of Bremer Bank in Alexandria. "It's gratifying that our owner and partner, the Otto Bremer Foundation, has offered its backing to this worthwhile organization. These dollars would not be available without the support of our Bremer Bank clients."
The Caring Hands Dental Clinic began in 2006 through the visions of local dental and medical professionals and others that saw a need for quality dental care for underserved citizens of the area.
In the beginning, the clinic utilized area volunteers and has since progressed to a full-time staff including two dentists and a complemental dental staff.
Located in the 700 Cedar Building, it provides dental care to citizens served by Medical Assistance, MnCare, PrimeWest Health, Delta and Medica.
"This outstanding service to the citizens of this area could not happen without the continuing support from area individuals and businesses. With this Otto Bremer Foundation grant and other donations, we will be able to provide mobile outreach clinics to many areas underserved," said Al Olsen, executive director of Caring Hands.
