The Osakis High School yearbook program has been named a 2012 Jostens' National Yearbook Program of Excellence, one of only 250 schools out of 18,000 Jostens programs in the nation so honored.

Advisor Dawn Kaelke noted that she had 39 students on the yearbook staff last year. The students learned how to create, sell and advertise yearbooks, how to keep accurate budgets and records and how to take photos of student life and sporting events.

"The Osakis Yearbook is important to the students because it shares their journey and the many memories of their high school years," Kaelke commented. "This award demonstrates the tremendous amount of effort and dedication from these students for completing a tribute dedicated to the memories of 2011-12."

The award was presented to the OHS yearbook program for achieving defined criteria in each of three categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.

OHS received a plaque and banner to put on display.

Jostens is based in Minneapolis and is a producer of school yearbooks, memory books and other student-created content that help school communities tell their stories. They also produce class rings, graduation products and athlete products.
