Alexandria police are looking for the public's assistance in locating the driver of a blue motorcycle that evaded police Monday, July 9, at 5:45 p.m.

The driver was accelerating and traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Birch Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated.

When lights and sirens were activated, the motorcycle driver fled. A pursuit southbound on Birch Avenue, westbound on Highway 27 and northbound on McKay Avenue followed. Speeds reached more than 80 miles per hour.

Because of the number of citizens on the road, speed and time of day, Alexandria police officers terminated the pursuit.

Minutes after the pursuit ended, police received a report of a motorcycle matching that description that had crashed in the north ditch near Highway 29 and South L'Homme Dieu Drive.

The motorcycle is a 1995 Honda with Minnesota license plate 41686MC.

A male party was seen running northbound from the motorcycle. Police set up a perimeter in the area but enough time had passed that the man had likely exited the neighborhood.

Anyone with information or knowledge as to who would have been driving this motorcycle is asked to contact the Alexandria Police Department at (320) 763-6631 with information. Callers can remain anonymous.
