Course offers training for teachers, providers on handling orders of protection
A "Caught in the Middle" course will be held on Tuesday March 20 at Alexandria Technical and Community College from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Instructors from Someplace Safe, Alexandria Law Enforcement and PLUS Kids will focus on how those working with young children in the early childhood field can best serve the needs of children and families when there are family members who have been issued an order of protection (OFP) and /or harassment restraining orders (HRO). It will address the question: As a teacher or child care provider, what is your liability in these situations? Instead of feeling caught in the middle, these experts will present resources on how you can process through these situations with information and strategies to make these uncomfortable situations a more comfortable, safe and productive situation for all involved.
This course is recommended for early childhood teachers, center staff, family child care providers, and teachers.
A certificate for two clock hours is available. Course fee is $20.
