Services center to get new roof

The Douglas County Services Center is scheduled to get a new roof.

During the county board's last meeting, the re-roof project was awarded to Herzog Roofing of Detroit Lakes for $45,680.

The new roofing will cover the area where the newer gym and adjoining weight room are located - in all it's about 11,800 square feet of roof.

The project includes removing the existing roofing system down to the present insulation and installation of new roofing material to meet state standards.

Work is expected to start mid to late May, according to Douglas County Facilities Director Steve Ziemer.

During the re-roof project, people using the facility can expect some parking issues near the services center, particularly when crews are removing roofing.

Buttweiler's Do-All Inc., of Alexandria, also bid on the roofing project but their bid came in at $51,990.
