Highway 9 resurfacing project south of Morris begins today

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.-- Motorists on Highway 9 south of Morris may encounter delays when a resurfacing project between Morris and the Stevens/Pope county line begins May 12. The project was originally scheduled to begin May 2, but was delayed due to road restrictions.

Construction will be completed in two phases, which will require detours. During the first phase, crews will replace culverts and resurface the pavement between Stevens County Road 22 and the Highway 59 bypass. Traffic will be detoured to Stevens County Road 22 and Highway 59 for approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

The second phase includes culvert replacement and pavement resurfacing between the Highway 59 bypass and the Stevens/Pope county line. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 59 and Highway 12 for approximately six weeks, weather permitting.

The project also includes resurfacing all of Highway 329, which will require lane closures for approximately two days.

The entire project is scheduled to be completed in early July, weather permitting. Access to businesses will be maintained at all times during the project.
