Alex Tech pursues $8.8 million student housing project

A plan to build an $8.8 million housing facility for students at Alexandria Technical and Community College (ATCC) was revealed at an Alexandria City Council Monday night.

It would be a four-story facility with 34 four-bedroom suites, seven two-bedroom suites, a common area living room, restrooms and a kitchen.

Each floor would have laundry, common area/meeting space and a resident advisor.

Read Wednesday's Echo Press for more details about the project and the council's action.

Also, learn about another new project in Alexandria that's on the horizon - an event center. A committee has been studying the idea for about a year and is asking the city for $38,000 to have experts put together a more in-depth feasibility study.
