County Commissioner Anderson hospitalized after fall

Douglas County Commissioner Paul Anderson represents District 4.

Douglas County Commissioner Paul Anderson is recovering at Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) in Minneapolis after he took a tumble outside his home Sunday afternoon.

Anderson was working on a window when he fell and landed in the window well.

He was taken to the Douglas County Hospital by North Ambulance and later airlifted to HCMC.

Anderson, who is running for re-election this fall, suffered lacerations to his head, along with cracked or broken vertebrae and rib injuries, according to Harvey Tewes, his friend and campaign manager.

Tests are being done to determine the full extent of the injuries but the prognosis for recovery is good, Tewes said.

He said that Anderson was able to move his arms, legs and feet and was cracking jokes with the medical staff.

Anderson is expected to remain at HCMC for a week and then continue his recovery at home.

Tewes described the injuries as serious but added that the outcome looks good.

Anderson represents Douglas County Commissioner District 4, which includes Hudson Township, Alexandria Wards 1, 2 and 4, and the city of Forada.
