Echo unveils new look

Welcome to our new look!

The Echo Press, which traces its roots back to 1891, has gone through a variety of design changes over the years and this latest look was launched with our readers foremost in mind.

The goal is to make the newspaper more appealing and easy to read for everyone.

"The Echo Press is nearing its 120th birthday and we'll admit we've noticed a few wrinkles here and there, as well as some graying hair," noted Publisher Jody Hanson. "So, we decided it was time for a makeover."

Changes that will benefit readers include:

Larger, easier to read fonts.

Cleaner design.

More local content throughout the entire newspaper

An easier way to navigate through the paper

More "at a glance" information to help readers who are pressed for time.

Reporters' e-mail addresses are included with each story so readers can easily contact them with questions and comments.

A new Variety section that shares all the local happenings.

The newspaper is so excited about the redesign that it sent out sample issues of today's publication to about 5,500 households.

Although the newspaper's look is changing, its commitment to providing readers in Douglas County with trusted, reliable information remains the same.

"We're still providing you with all the award-winning news, sports, features, columns, ads and classifieds the community has learned to trust during the past 120 years," Hanson said.

The newspaper welcomes comments and feedback about the new look. Mail your thoughts to Echo Press Editor Al Edenloff, P.O. Box 549, Alexandria, MN 56308 or e-mail editor@

We hope readers like the changes and let us know how we're doing. After all, the catchphrase for our new look is "Redesigned with You in Mind."
