Central Square's Concert Series to include singing, dancing and more

The theme for the eighth annual Concert Series at Central Square in Glenwood is "Performance Seldom Seen On Stage."

All performances will take place at Central Square. The line-up of events includes the following:

The Mushroom Picker, a one-man play about a Czech American soldier who fought in World War II to liberate the people in his own family's homeland. It is a remarkable true story, written and performed by the soldier's grandson. This performance will take place Sunday, September 26 at 7:30 p.m.

A Tribute to Roy Orbison, Buddy Holly and Girl Singers of the 60's is a wildly popular concert bringing back the music of Roy Oribson and his contemporaries such as Bobby Vee, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and female pop singers such as Leslie Gore, Petula Clark and others. This concert will take place Friday, October 23 at 7:30 p.m.

Sing! Presents Tenore - A magnificent concert featuring three internationally known Canadian tenors singing classic hymns and other inspirational music with piano accompaniment. The concert also includes guest artist David Ask, a Glenwood native. This concert will take place Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m

A Girl Named Vincent - Prudence Johnson, one of the best known female vocalists in Minnesota, sings the poetry of Edna St. Vincent Millay with original music composed and performed by a five-piece combo of top notch musicians from the Twin Cities. This concert will take place on March 4 at 7:30 p.m.

The Haining Family Front Porch Fiddlers - Gospel, bluegrass, yodeling and old-time family music. One of the most popular family-oriented musical groups currently performing around the West Central area of Minnesota. This performance will take place on April 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Tales from the Book of Longing performed by the Stuart Pimsler Dance Theater whose work stands apart in the field of contemporary performance with stunning and dramatic visual elements. This company's vision has been hailed as theater and dance for the heart and mind. This performance will take place on Friday, May 6 at 7:30 p.m.

Concert Series tickets are $60 for all six events, which is 50 percent off the price for individual tickets.
