Humane society dog classes to start next Tuesday

Having a well-behaved dog makes the experience of having a pet much more enjoyable.

Imagine being able to take your dog for a walk without it pulling you the entire way or imagine having a dog that sits quietly when company comes to the door.

The Lakes Area Humane Society will offer a basic dog obedience class starting on July 6.

The cost is $60 and the profits will be applied toward the operating expense of the animal shelter. This class will run one night per week for five weeks and will cover the basic obedience commands of "heel, sit, stay and come" and more.

This class is appropriate for dogs of all ages and for all dog owners, no matter what level of experience they may have.

The instructor will be Randy Buker. He's been teaching this class for nine years and has a total of more than 30 years of professional dog training experience.

Beyond the basic commands, dog owners will learn how to understand their dog's behavior better.
